Just left a job where I addressed a noisy outdoor unit, an older Tempstar. Discovered and tightened some loose fan blades. Now it's running much more quietly. Unusual noises from your HVAC system can be a sign of underlying issues that need attention.
Performed a heating pm on a heat pump system. Replaced air filter. The filter was plugged. Checked electric heat strips and temps in emergency heat. Checked pressures. When I hooked up the gauges to the low side in heat mode, the pressure was showing 4 psi on low side and 200 psi on the high side then the system went off on low pressure. Turned the system to cooling and the reversing valve switched and the pressures were 95psi low/ 200psi hi side. The system works correctly in A/C, the txv outside is stuck closed and not letting refrigerant flow through the system. The txv needs to be replaced. We will contact Spinnaker about the repair that needs to be performed.
Performed An ac maintenance. Replaced customer supplied filter. Inspected electrical. Took amperage readings. All readings are within factory guidelines. Refrigerant levels are good. I had a 20*f delta t. 51*f supply temp. Tested the condensate drain. No issues found. Rinsed condenser. System is very clean.
