HVAC PROFESSIONAL

Andrew has come to my house a number of times now to service my air-conditioning and heating units. He’s the most lovely young man. Professional, knowledgeable, the service was done in about 45 minutes and I always have peace of mind after he leaves knowing I’m going to be fine for the winter. He explains anything that’s wrong, that I need to do or any issues I may anticipate. Thank you Larry and Andrew Halpin and Jerry who also came and assisted.

Upon arrival disconnected the wires for the old aquastat and removed the aquastat. Installed new aquastat and hooked up the wires. Ran hot water in the bathroom tub until the water heater aquastat called for heat. Let the domestic water heat up and tested it at multiple fixtures around the house to verify the water temps. Had consistent water temps ranging from 121-124. Watched the unit cycle on and off 4 times total to check water temps. Unit is working g properly

Performed a heating pm on an oil boiler. Brushed and vacuumed. Replaced the oil filter, nozzle and strainer. Started and checked the safeties. Performed a combustion test. 4.9% o2, 49 ppm, 0 smoke, 80.9% efficient System is operating properly. Because of how the boiler was originally installed, there is no way to perform a proper cleaning. I am unable to get the back clean out door off. I took the flue pipe off and cleaned the top section of the boiler

The thermostat is not turning on in heat. Checked the batteries in the thermostat for the entry way. There was 24 volts. Jumped R-W wires and the circulator turned on. The thermostat is bad. Replaced the thermostat. Started and tested, the zone is heating correctly.

When arrived, there was water on the floor at the pressure relief valve. The boiler pressure was at 20 psi, checked the extrol tank and found water was migrating past the diaphragm into the water side which will increase the pressure while it is running. The extrol tank needs to be replaced. Drained the pressure from the system and replaced the extrol tank. Filled and started. Bled all the radiators. System is operating properly.

Thermostat Installation: The homeowner wanted better scheduling and energy management. I removed their outdated thermostat, installed a new programmable model compatible with their system, verified proper wiring and voltage, configured custom heating and cooling presets, and educated the homeowner on using the scheduling features for maximum comfort and efficiency.

Furnace Replacement: The homeowner’s furnace began shutting down unexpectedly and producing uneven heat throughout the home. After a full diagnostic, I discovered the blower motor had seized and the control board showed signs of electrical damage, making repairs unreliable and costly. I recommended upgrading to a high-efficiency replacement. I installed the new furnace, updated the venting to PVC, added a modern thermostat, and confirmed the system delivered stronger, more consistent heating with improved energy efficiency.

Commercial Heating System Replacement: A commercial client faced constant heating downtime and escalating energy bills due to an outdated rooftop unit. I performed an assessment, recommended a high-efficiency commercial replacement, coordinated the crane lift for rooftop installation, upgraded control wiring, and fully tested heating output. The business now benefits from reliable performance and reduced operating costs.

Water Heater Install: The client’s existing water heater had begun leaking heavily from the internal tank, causing early signs of floor damage. I removed the compromised unit, installed a new high-efficiency water heater with upgraded shutoff valves, secured all venting and water connections, and verified strong, consistent hot water recovery rates throughout the home.

Furnace Repair: A homeowner reported loud clicking sounds followed by the furnace failing to ignite. During my inspection, I traced the issue to a sticking flame sensor coated with heavy carbon buildup. I cleaned the sensor, checked ignition timing, adjusted the burner assembly, and confirmed the system cycled smoothly, restoring dependable heat.

Performed pm on oil water heater Brushed and vacuumed flue pipe and heat exchanger Replaced oil filter, nozzle, and strainer Checked all electrical connections and safeties Performed combustion and smoke tests While performing the maintenance we found the nozzle was very dirty and was dripping inside the blast tube. Also found the blast tube end cone is developing a crack and the end of the blast tube is starting to corrode slightly. Brought the customer down and showed them the corrosion. Customer would like a price on a new burner since the primary control, burner motor, and oil pump are all from the old water heater. Both the nozzle and the cracked end cone will cause the water heater to run dirtier than normal and will cause extra soot and can cause an oil/soot smell. Also found the shark bite fitting going into the water heater is beginning to leak. Took pictures for a repair quote.

Checked system. The boiler is operating properly with the burner turning on and off according to the zones. There are (4) zones and a storage tank that is feed from the coil. When the burner turned on, there was a rumble. Checked the oil flow and transformer. Both were ok. Removed the nozzle assembly and the was a dark spot on the tip of the nozzle indicating that it was not spraying correctly. Replaced the nozzle and system is operating properly. Cycled the burner several times.
