Performed maintenance on the fireplace that we installed a few years ago. Client reported the unit not turning on — found the remote receiver switch set to “OFF,” preventing operation. Reset the switch to “REMOTE,” and the fireplace is now functioning properly. Advised client to keep the D batteries installed in the receiver and to leave the unit plugged in, as it will automatically switch to battery backup during a power outage. Explained that the remote system operates on its own radio frequency, not Wi-Fi, so it will continue to function even without internet access. Cleaned the glass and inspected the thermopile and igniter assembly — all components in good condition. Tested full operation with the remote; system is working normally.
