Work Performed Responded to no hot water call. Found water heater attempting to ignite but shutting down immediately. Removed burner tray, cleaned flame rod and igniter assembly. Noticed insulation around unit was wet. Spoke with homeowner’s father who explained a nearby water hose had burst, spraying water onto the water heater. Determined the water damage was likely causing grounding/connection issues with the Intelli-Vent gas valve. Replaced ground rod and ensured proper grounding. Removed wet insulation and advised client to leave side panel open to allow drying. Recommended use of a dehumidifier to speed up the process. Tested system through four on/off cycles to confirm ignition and shutdown sequences. Results Water heater successfully ignited and cycled on and off multiple times. Gas valve shut down properly on its own, with no signs of sticking, overpressure, or overheating. No water dripping observed from pressure relief valve. Cannot guarantee this will be a permanent repair
