Performed annual cooling maintenance on a 2019 American Standard Gold 4-ton split system. The FAU is located in the master closet attic access. Replaced the 20x30 and 14x14 filters and followed full sequence of operations. Checked voltage, amperage, capacitor, hard start kit, temperature split, and refrigerant levels. Cleared the condensate drain line from the exterior termination and rinsed condenser coils. Found the 35µF capacitor reading 0µF; the system was still starting due to the previously installed hard start kit, however the compressor was running at high amperage (17.6/20A) because it was operating primarily off the start kit. Informed client of findings and recommended replacement. Replaced the capacitor under part warranty (labor not included). Cycled and tested system after repair; compressor amperage reduced to 14/20A. Verified Nest thermostat operation. System is cooling properly at time of service. Client paid for HFCP via credit card.
