Service diagnostic found that the outdoor capacitor had failed. I also found the outdoor fan motor has a hot spot. At the indoor system there is no water safety switch and there is some biological growth on the coil. I presented repair options to the homeowner and he chose to have the capacitor replaced. I replaced the capacitor and cycled power at the system. I also secured the outdoor compressor wiring and taped the insulation at the air handler panel at no additional cost. After replacing the capacitor, I found the system was running in a/c mode when set to heat. I found the O wire was not programmed correctly at the thermostat. I adjusted the setting on the thermostat and checked the system. The system is running at completion of service.
