Service Call – No Cooling / Water Leak Client Complaint: Upon arrival, the client directed me to the return area and closet, where he pointed out visible water damage on the ceiling and closet door frame. Water had been running for some time, as evidenced by the bubbling and staining of the paint. The client also reported that the closet door does not close properly and that the bottom hinge had come loose. Diagnosis & Findings: • Inspected the attic and found water present in the secondary drain pan, though it was not completely full. • Checked the water safety switch, which was wired to shut off the thermostat. However, since the thermostat is battery-operated, the switch was ineffective in shutting the system down. • Noted that the original installer (Hydes) did not wire the safety switch inside the FAU (furnace air unit) but instead tapped into exterior wiring.
