09/15/2025- I arrived on site to find the filters black, howler there was almost no dust/hair in the filters. I was discussing what could cause a filter to get soot/residue on it like this, and I found that the customer burns candles upstairs and downstairs often. This coupled with the MERV 12-14 air filters the customer uses would explain why the filters are getting grey/black so quickly. I found no gas appliance in the house as well, which also pointed to the candles being the cause. Since the filters are still allowing good airflow through them, I recommended no burning candles for a while and seeing if that helps the filters stay clean just to verify that this is what is causing them to blacken. I also told the customer to call us if he has any issues, questions, or concerns. I have verified that the unit itself is working properly and cooling properly at the time of service.
