Tech was good, however diagnosing the problem and fixing the Freon leak took a total of 20 minutes tops. “Leak Search” was a standard $250 and to spot weld a hairline cut in the outside copper tube came with a charge of $350. The spot weld took less than 10 minutes. So, for call fee of $140, Watkins charged me $1,500 for Freon, detect and repair, and pressure testing. Freon costs are somewhat understandable. But $600 for 20 minutes of detect and fix is pure thievery. I would have felt good about a charge of $1,000-$1,100. But $1,640 for a 2 hour job makes me feel like a schmuck.
