Provided maintenance on equipment and verified good operations. Compressor did have a shutter to its start. System is operating good at this time, suction pressure was a bit high for today’s indoor/outdoor temperatures but has good delta t (air temperature split) and good starting and operating amps. Noticed compressor has potentially experienced reverse rotation, would recommend a sure switch smart contactor with surge protection and short cycling protection to help prevent wear and tear on equipment.
The unit was iced over. I shut the compressor down and let the outdoor fan run. I checked the indoor coil and found the insulation for the cabinet had fallen onto the coil restricting the airflow. I spoke with the homeowner about the air filters and she showed me the ones she changed out and they were excessively dirty. These conditions will cause a coil to freeze over. I defrosted the unit and glued the insulation back onto the cabinet Temperature split readings and gauge are good. I found the service valves leaking. I replaced both service valves and added Freon caps. The unit is operating properly at this time.
