The unit had a bad dual capacitor. The repeated attempts to start with a bad capacitor cost the contactor to burn it needs replaced. Recommended and inrush kit to help prevent further issues with capacitors and to help with power consumption. I replaced the capacitor. The unit is operating properly.
Performed a platinum cool home visit on both systems. Both systems had pitted contactors and high starting amps. The 2 1/2 ton unit had a bad dual capacitor and they both displayed a low charge. I spoke with the homeowner about history on the systems to find if they have been maintenance and previous records of charge readings. This is the first year the homeowner is in the house. I did not see any signs of leaks. I charged both systems back to factory specifications replace the capacitor and contactor switches. I installed the sensor and rodent kit along with adding foil tape to other areas to secure the system. I performed the cool home visit. The unit is operating properly.
Arrived to do a cool home membership inspection. The homeowner had an alert on the thermostat for the suction sensor. I found rodents had chewed the sensor beyond repair. Need to return and replace sensor and install rodent kit. I cannot perform the check at this time with this issue
The condenser coil has two spots where the coil itself would need a section of tubing to repair. The outdoor fan motor capacitor tested bad and needs replaced. While checking the unit, I found a liquid line restriction at the outdoor TXV causing the compressor to go out on IP. The compressor did not come back out of IP and could possibly be burned out recommended replacing the system due to the age and the extensive repairs required I left proposals for repairs and unit replacement. Working on more proposals on ductwork.
