I arrived for a free 2nd option on a evaporator coil replacement. I first spoke with the homeowner and found that another company had diagnosed the evaporator coil as leaking. I preformed a free minor leak search with soap bubbles and a electrical leak detector and found the weld where the TXV had the 1/4” flair bypass tube to be leaking. I showed the homeowner the soap bubbles that are growing on the weld. The weld is so close to the aluminum and copper factory weld that I am uncomfortable trying to solder the weld and melt the plastic cover and glue that is holding the factory weld together. I got a arrival day if we ordered the coil replacement from Kansas and there is only 14 in stock at this time. I made the homeowner aware of this and that the refrigerant will be additional cost. He will wait and talk with his wife when she gets home and see what they want to do about getting the parts replaced.
