While we were away on vacation, our son contacted us to explain that our heat was out. The local temps were in the single digits! My phone call to Comfort Central was answered on the 3rd ring. Cameron came for our winter furnace service. He was very thorough and checked all the wiring amperage, safety switches etc. and took time to explain everything to me and teach me about the gas furnace and heat pump. That was very helpful because we moved from Florida and had only electric heat in the attic. It was a very good experience. And he was right on time for the appointment.

Kevin came out to the house to fix my heat pump in this nasty weather. The heat pump has been acting up and is a real problem. Believe the problem has been identified. I feel so sorry for him as it is 17 degrees outside. Kevin will be back to run special wire. I have used Comfort for years and trust them and highly recommend.

Replaced condenser fan motor and dual run capacitor then tested system operation. Fan motor is pulling.9 amps and system is working to manufacturer specifications.
Found system trap on drain had falled off drain trap causing water to leak on floor. Reattached drain and ran water through drain to check operation of drain. Turned on unit to check operation everything lit off and started up just fine.

Found system j3 jumper was never clipped at installation that allows antifreeze geothermal loop to operate in below freezing temps. Clipped j3 jumper and cycled to check operation. Everything came on normally. reset thermostats to normal heat mode.
When I arrived tested heat pump and furnace, heat pump had 18 degree temperature difference, furnace had a temperature difference of 43. Found the reason the furnace was not working is the system is a 90 percent efficient furnace in attic that drains to an outside wall. This causes the drain to freeze and the system stop working due to the furnace not draining properly.
Replacement of OEM defrost board and sensor under manufacturer's limited parts warranty.

Found wire rub on reversing valve wires in outdoor unit - repaired damaged wire and added a zip tie to stand off wiring from outdoor unit. Cycled unit to check operation. Everything came on and cycled normally.
