Terrible installation

The air filter pan is held on by tape only. And within less then a week it breaks off causing it to fall off the unit. I called the customer service line and the agent I spoke with advised in order to have someone come out and fix the air pan it would be not same day and I would be charged an overtime rate. I asked since I just paid 6k for the unit to be installed would that be covered since it’s due to the installation and they advised I would have to speak with the technician when they come out. In addition the A/C tech who did the installation told me the wrong filter size and it’s clear as day it’s 16 per the manual. The A/C wrote in sharpie the wrong size on the pan and then stuck with heavy duty tape the owner manual which now my brand new unit has tape reside all over it. I am not a happy customer and am shocked at the poor installation and customer service.

No cool: Package unit system tripping breaker in both heat and cool modes. Unit is a strait cool with a 8kw heat kit. Found bad breaker racing and causing heat to build up in the breaker. In heat mode, system pulling 31 amps which is within factory spec. Homeowner will have breaker changed with someone else. I disconnected power to unit at out door disconnect until then. Compressor was recently changed by a different company under warranty. Homeowner purchased taps maintenance program with us. The office should call to set appointment for first Homeowner is aware system will not run until breaker is changed out.

Arrived at customers house for system check. I do rival customer showed me to air handler in closet. Open up cabinet and inspected inside. Saw a bit of dirt on the blower wheel. Brought this to customers attention. Suggested a possible pull and clean and also an upgraded electronic filter. Sent customer estimates for both. All electrical wiring was connected. Underneath of evaporator coil had a bit of dust on it. Started up unit and unit was giving close to proper delta-t. Went outside to condenser and hooked up gauges. Gauges we're showing low Freon. Brought this to customers attention and suggested we add a pound. Customer agreed. Added lb and all pressures and readings are now looking correct. Listening to the compressor startup me and the customer agreed that it sounded rather rough. Suggested to the customer he get a hard start kit to expand the life expectancy of the unit. Sent customer estimate. Proper voltage is going across contactors. Capacitor was within acceptable range. Su

Re- Leveling Air handler. Check levels of horizontal unit in attic. Adjust pitch of cabinet and check drain pan. Added water and watch drain water out and in pvc drain line. Unit is cooling well and drains at this time. Suggest to replace flexable duct that is 12” return. Flexable duct is tight and needs to be lengthened to properly pull full return. Customer declined membership at this time.

Performed preventative maintenance on the system. Cleaned drain, changed filter, checked coils, tested/inspected all electrical components, checked refrigerant pressures, and tested operation of the system as a whole in both heating and cooling modes. The outdoor fan capacitor was weak we changed that and the superset compressor one out to one of the turbo x 5 year warranty ones. I also noticed a fair amount of biological growth forming in the air handler. We installed a Pure Air X germicidal UV air purification system and wiped the inside of the unit down to take care of this. The unit and UV Light is currently operating correctly in both heating and cooling modes. Customer would like a receipt mailed because he doesn’t use email.

System won’t heat. I found this was do to the unit not being wired properly which made it so that the unit would never call for heat. I corrected control wiring issues and tested the heat the heaters did come on but didn’t at first and didn’t seem to be working well. I recommended we replace the entire heat section as it is pretty old. We will need to order this and return to replace it. I also notice a significant amount of biological growth on the coil and in the unit. I would recommend addressing this as soon as possible I have provided estimates to remedy this.

Upon arrival customer told me the heat was not working and the system is only 3 weeks old. The company that installed the unit put a T6 in and customer did not like it and ac company would not come back and fix it or install what the customer liked. Customer went out and bought a 9000 and installed it himself. He had the reversing valve energizing in cool and Rheem unit like it to be energized in heat. I programmed the thermostat for the customer and restored heat to home

Arrived to look into thermostat issue. We installed the wrong thermostat during system replacement. The customer had already paid for a WiFi thermostat but hadn’t gotten one. I went and got one and installed the new thermostat and programmed it and got the customer set up with wifi and the app on it. While talking I recommended installing UV air purification. We installed this as well. Customer has signed up for and is now a TAPS Annual member. The system and thermostat are now operating correctly.

Complete member tune up. Inspect all electrical components. Test amps and volts. Delta T measures at 20 degrees. Clear out drain line with nitrogen. A picture of the evaporator coil was uploaded into ST. Ensure system is running in both heating and cooling modes. Both UV bulbs were in need of being replaced. There is a pure air x light and an elite uv light. The customer agreed to changing out the pure air bulb but would like to install the elite bulb himself. Work was performed. At condenser tested pressures, temps, amps and volts. System is in good running condition. Customer satisfied!
