I performed preventive maintenance on a single AC zone today. I inspected and cleaned the evaporator and condenser coils using Nu-Calgon Evap-Fresh, replaced the air filter with a MERV 11 pleated model, and checked refrigerant levels. I also tested capacitors, verified proper amperage draw on all motors, and lubricated moving parts. The condensate drain line was cleared with nitrogen, and I calibrated the thermostat. Finally, I checked all electrical connections, inspected ductwork for leaks, and tested the system's overall performance in both cooling and fan-only modes.
Conducted a thorough evaluation of a forced hot air furnace. Inspected the heat exchanger for any signs of cracks or wear, ensuring it was in good condition. Checked the blower motor and fan belts for proper operation and tension. Tested the thermostat calibration and inspected all electrical connections to ensure safety and efficiency. Also evaluated the air filter and replaced it with a new one to improve airflow. The furnace is now operating efficiently and safely, ready for the heating season.
Conducted diagnostic on malfunctioning HVAC system. Identified failed blower motor as root cause. Shut off power supply following lockout procedure. Removed and replaced blower assembly per manufacturer guidelines. Secured new motor mounting and electrical connections. Verified proper airflow across evaporator coil. Cycled system through all operating modes. Confirmed return to specified temperature split.
I recently completed a ductwork repair job for a client's forced air system. Upon arrival, I performed static pressure testing which revealed excessive air leakage from the return duct runs in the attic. Using a Malco TurboShear, I cut out the damaged sections and replaced them with R6 insulated flex duct secured with plastic Panduit strap tensioners. All new ductwork was properly suspended from the trusses using galvanized hangars on 4ft centers. Air leaks were then sealed using Hardcast tape and mastic. Finally, I rebalanced the system using a TrueFlow air meter to ensure proper airflow and minimize static pressure. This has significantly improved the system's efficiency and comfort.
