I found the breaker tripped to the outdoor unit. I checked all electrical wiring and verified it was in good shape, then reset the breaker. I did find the compressor was pulling 70 amps on start up out of the rated 63. After further diagnostics, I found the compressor start assist had failed. This was causing the compressor to pull higher amperage which could have been the reason the breaker tripped. Repair options were presented to the homeowner and she chose to have the start assist replaced. I replaced the start assist and cycled power at the thermostat. After replacing the start assist the compressor pulled 58-59 amps on start up. No other issues were found. The system is operational at this time.
