Customer had us out to investigate why his air conditioner wasn’t cooling properly. Upon investigation, Troy found that there was major ice buildup on the evaporator coil. We shut off the compressor to allow the ice to melts during which period Troy put his gauges on the compressor to get the resting pressure of the unit. It’s an R 22 unit and the resting pressures were far below where they ought to be indicating that there was a leak in the system.When I explained this to the customer, the customer said that due to the age, it’ll be more advantageous for them to spend the money on purchasing a new unit.
