Retuned to reevaluate a system that was not heating. Upon arrival the customer showed me where the equipment was along with the thermostat. She mentioned that the system is from 1994 and that she just recently bought the house about 5 months ago. During my inspection I found rust in the heat exchanger and some questionable spots where it looked like there was holes in it making the furnace unsafe to use. I also found the blower motor to be leaking oil and covered in a thick layer of dust buildup which is causing it to overheat and overwork leading to the oil leak. The control board is only sending power to certain areas on the system but prior to replacing the board I asked the customer if she understood that replacing this board is only the beginning and just based on what I was able to test today I can tell that the blower motor needs to be replaced and that all the dirt buildup in the system is causing it to work a lot harder than it should which can pop up other system failures.
