Upon arrival the customer explained that they’ve had to empty the secondary drain pan under the unit in the upstairs attic a couple times and wasn’t sure why. After further inspecting the system, I found the contactor outside to be welded shut. Which means when the thermostat would satisfy and the outdoor unit and compressor just kept running and running, causing the evaporator coil to ice over which would explain the ice melting and not tracking down into the primary drain pan and missing it, causing it to drip out the bottom of the air handler cabinet and into the secondary pan. The contactor was still under a manufacturer part warranty. The customer approved the estimate for labor to install the warranty contactor. After installing the contactor, I tested the system operations, and the contactor was energizing and deenergizing as it is supposed to. Your system is operating properly at this time.
