Reason for today’s visit with the customer was to quote installation of a new grounding system for the home. The home was all PEX and upon change-over from copper the plumbing company removed the old water ground connected at the water heater. They left the old grounded wire hanging inside the utility room with the water clamp still attached. The panel is an original to the home Bryant. Not showing signs of damage but older and past the recommended replacement years. Customer at this time was not interested in updating the panel or installation of a Surge Protector. My solution for regrounding the panel would be to install two new ground rods and land them on the bar inside the panel. In the Utility room I would attach the old grounding wire for the water heater to the gas line that way there is grounding and bonding inside the home.
