Redevice entire family room circuit, including all receptacles and standard single pole switches in 5 gang box, using proper pigtail wiring method. Called out today to troubleshoot the family room that did not have power in the lights and receptacles. Using my plug tester, I discovered that the receptacles were hot/ground reverse, leading me to believe that a receptacle had possibly failed. I went down to the panel to test for voltage of the breakers, and all breakers read 120 volts. Customer told me that a previous company had done work in the home, adding a whole home generator. This lead me to further investigate the termination in the main electrical panel. I discovered that two neutrals were not properly torqued down and were floating on the neutral bus bar. I tightened these down and proper power was delivered to the devices. Due to the age and wiring style of the old devices, I recommended redevicing the circuit, to guarantee the terminations. Customer agreed to scope of work.
