Reason for today’s visit with the customer was repairing a burned up receptacle in the kitchen. Upon arrival we inspected the receptacle and noticed the Madison strap holding the box in place had been arcing continuously against the receptacle causing it to fail. On the same circuit is the fridge, dishwasher, and microwave. All kitchen circuits had no GFCI protection. Devices are also original to the home. Upon inspection of the panel we observed a hazardous condition panel. Rust inside, overheating on the wires, as well as mismatched breakers that fail to trip properly. Our assumption is that the mismatched breakers failed to trip while the Madison strap was arcing. Additionally, the photovoltaic system was in hazardous condition as the line for the photovoltaic system was overheating. The customer has a HVAC unit in front of the meter so that must be moved in order to accommodate a new panel. Additionally, the main water is across the basement and currently broken needing repair.
