Job Checkin

Upon arrival, I found that the disconnect breaker was tripped. The breaker is a 30amp but the unit requires a 35amp. I discovered that the compressor is internally shorted. This is likely due to acid in the refrigerant line from a previous repair/replacement. I advised the customer if the best possible repair. That entails replacing the compressor, the TXV, the refrigerant filter, replacing the incorrect breaker(complimentary), and flushing the entire line set with an acid neutralizing chemical. From what I can tell, the unit is in major need of a dump duct above the stairs to limit the amount of liquid refrigerant returning to the compressor. I priced the repair with and without membership. Also, I provided a price to run a 10” dump duct above the stairs. This may not be doable due to limited access. I did not install the hard start due to additional findings.
