Upon arrival, I found that the outdoor unit had lost high voltage due to a tripped breaker. I began diagnosing by checking for issues that would cause the breaker to trip. I found that the compressor has become short to ground. I verified warranty on the equipment. It is coverage until 2028. The route to repair is either compressor replacement or system replacement. With a compressor replacement, it is necessary to put virgin (unused) refrigerant back into system and replace the refrigerant filter dryer. An estimate was generated for labor, refrigerant, and refrigerant filter dryer. Also, I observed that the drain has become clogged since last service. Both the upstairs and downstairs drains are tied together. Jacob and I have both offered compressor savers for both systems and customer has declined them on multiple occasions.
