Upon arrival customer stated the heat wasn’t reaching temperature. I placed a call for heat and proceeded to the outside unit as this is a heat pump. I noticed the fan or compressor weren’t running. I tested all electrical components and found that the capacitor was not within manufacturer specifications and was bad. I used my test capacitor to see if the unit would come on. The condenser fan came on but the compressor was humming and trying to start but never would. I then ohm’d out the compressor and it wasn’t reading within manufacturer specifications. The readings were telling me that it was locked up. I talked to the customer about the concerns and provided estimates to have the compressor replaced and capacitor, along with the refrigerant and filter drier for the system. Customer would like to speak to his wife and he will contact us back. Unit will heat in emergency heat mode but will not work in cool or heat mode.
