I performed a 2 system heating maintenance on heat pump equipment. Downstairs 2024 upstairs 2018 I checked amps, capacitors, filters, electrical, cleanliness, and safeties. Customer mentioned that the unit was still dripping water when it was cooling and that it seems like the when it’s extremely cold it has a hard time performing. I investigated the not keeping up in single digit weather. I confirmed that the heating kits are operating properly. The upstairs heating strips are becoming brittle and losing ohm value. The heating kit will likely fail by next year. The downstairs system is showing earlier signs of growth formation. The upstairs blower wheel has heavy build up on the wheel causing strain on the blower motor, and the evaporator coil is oxidized. Both of these result in reduced efficiency and lifespan of the system.
