I performed 2 heating maintenances on 2026 gas systems. I checked amps, filters, electrical, cleanliness, and safeties. I observed that the gas line for the units are not code compliant because it is mission a sediment before supply the gas to the line. These are used to prevent contaminants reaching the gas valve. Once it reaches the gas valve it will gas the gas valve to either become stuck or leak gas. I noticed that I was getting a feint gas smell at the downstairs unit. Upon investigating, I determined that the gas valve isn’t fully closing resulting in a gas leak. This needs to be taken care of for safe operation. The unit do not have float switch or blow out valves. Customer declined receiving an estimate for those at this time. I reached out to Lennox to price the gas valve for the downstairs system, and, it is readily available.
