I performed a single heating maintenances on a zoned heat pump system. The airhandler is from 2022 and the heat pump is from 2024. I discovered that the evaporator coil is becoming oxidized. This reduces temperature transfer and efficiency. The evaporator coil needs to be washed to remove this oxidation. The system began to short cycle in heating mode. With the current variables, it was not possible to determine the cause. The upstairs bedroom is 82 degrees and could be causing this. I discovered something that needs to be corrected. This correction will require our install crew. It is advised to add a surge protector to the outdoor unit to protect the compressor.
