For this service call, the homeowner reported a suspected leak originating from the attic. Upon arrival, two areas of water damage were confirmed in the ceiling of the primary bathroom. Inspection of the attic revealed leaks at two bathroom exhaust fan discharge lines; this condition had occurred previously and was only temporarily resolved at that time. The half-bath exhaust connection showed ice buildup at the transition from the plastic discharge line to galvanized piping, and the primary bathroom fan was leaking at the plastic connection to the unit, with sagging piping that allowed condensation to collect. After discussing findings with the homeowner, it was determined that the likely cause is reduced fan performance combined with uninsulated exhaust piping, allowing moisture to cool and condense before exiting the home. An estimate will be provided to replace both exhaust fans and to replace sections of the discharge lines with new, insulated metal piping to help prevent future
