Arrived on site for a report of the boiler system intermittently shutting down and visible leaks at the boiler piping. Colby stated that over the past two days he has found the emergency shutoff switch above the boiler turned off approximately five times, occurring both during the day and overnight. During the initial evaluation, I found the boiler high limit set to 140°F and the low limit set to 120°F. Colby explained that the domestic hot water had been excessively hot at the fixtures and that his father had previously adjusted boiler settings in response. I identified three failed and leaking Hy-Vents serving both heating zones and the indirect water heater. With customer approval, all three Hy-Vents were replaced. I then inspected the electrical system. Proper voltage was confirmed at the emergency switch, aquastat, and control relays. No hidden fuses or electrical abnormalities were found.
