The homeowner reported issues with the toilets continuously filling and odors occurring in the master bathroom during the mornings. Upon evaluation, the toilets were found to no longer be overfilling after homeowner adjustments; however, one toilet fill valve was noted to be filling very slowly, and replacement was recommended, which the homeowner elected to complete himself. We also investigated the reported odor concerns and ruled out dry traps, visible leaks, subfloor damage, and loose or unglued piping in the basement and crawlspace. It was explained that the odor could still be related to a toilet wax ring that may need to be reset, which the homeowner plans to address independently. A smoke test of the drainage system was discussed as an additional diagnostic option, but the homeowner declined this service at this time.
