Arrived onsite to investigate a no-heat issue on a Viessmann propane boiler. Another heating company had previously been onsite and cleaned the boiler in an attempt to resolve the issue. During my evaluation, I found the boiler had an FE (flame failure) error code. I reset the unit, and it fired and ran properly . While inspecting the boiler, I observed water leaking from a crack in the heat exchanger gasket. Due to the gasket not being available from the supply house, I sealed the leak using high-temperature silicone as a temporary repair. I inspected and cleaned the igniter and flame sensor. I recommend replacing both components if the unit experiences another failure. I also checked gas pressure at the regulator and found it to be low at 10” WC. I adjusted the pressure to 13” WC. I also checked that the boiler is draining condensate properly. Bubble the gas pressure port and checked carbon monoxide levels, no leaks present.
