We reconnected the existing plumbing vent to the drainage system after discovering it had previously been cut and left disconnected during a bathroom remodel. The work involved cutting into the existing drain line and installing a properly sized wye fitting to restore the vent connection, allowing the system to vent correctly and preventing sewer gases from entering the home. All connections were securely fitted, sealed, and tested to confirm proper operation and that no leaks were present. The homeowner was advised to open the wall as needed and permanently cap the old drain arm that remains inside the wall cavity following completion of the reconnection work.
