Reason for today’s visit with the customer was to quote installation of a ceiling fan and a light fixture. Upon arrival the customer already had the light fixture and ceiling fan on site. The customer wanted to install a chandelier style fixture above the dining room table. There is currently a canned recess light there. My solution for this would be to remove the old recess light and install a brace box so the new chandelier could be hung in the center of the room. Due to the way the joists ran I would have to cut across potentially for the new fixture. Additionally, there would need to be dry wall patching done where the old canned recess light was. In the living room is where we would install the new ceiling fan. There is not currently a box or light in the ceiling in this room. My solution for this would be to install a new switch leg running from the currently switch controlled outlet box.
