Arrived on site for no heat call. Homeowner stated unit was running constantly and not holding setpoint. Homeowner had also noticed that the condenser was making a loud buzzing noise. Inspected thermostats and indoor unit and found call for heat working is intended. Upon inspecting the outdoor unit, I noticed the loud buzzing noise the homeowner was referring to. It sounded like the compressor was struggling to pump it first, but then would even itself out. Upon hooking up refrigerant gauges I found the pressures to be within manufacture specifications, however, after running for a short amount of time, low side pressure would drop and high side pressure with rise indicating an issue with the EEV operation. I then tested the suction and liquid line sensors and found them both to be reading around 20 to 23 K ohms. This indicates temperatures are around 130 to 140°. this reading is well outside of manufacture spec as well as current temperatures. Discussed with homeowner possible options
