I performs a cooling maintenance on a heat pump system. The indoor is from 2024 and the outdoor is from 2018. During my thorough evaluation, I discovered a few deficiencies with the outdoor unit. The condenser fan motor is amping extremely close to its maximum rated amperage. This is a sign that the motor is close to the end of its life. The low voltage wires are compromised and may begin shorting out the system unless preventative measures are taken. This involves installing a protective conduit to keep the wires safe from weather and u/v rays. The disconnect is beginning to oxidize at its contacts. This will lead to the terminals getting hot and potentially burning the wires and disconnect.
