I performed a single system heating maintenance The heating source is a heat pump with back up electric heat. The outdoor is from 2002 and the airhandler is from 2013. I checked amps, electrical, cleanliness, and safeties. The system has a 15kw heat kit and only using 10kw of it. I observed that the suction line does not have any insulation on it. This reduces efficiency and causes it to cost more to run. The evaporator coil is dirty on the bottom side . This will reduce the efficiency and cause operation issues. The blower wheel has growth clusters causing air equality reduction and added stress to the system. I offered surge protection, and the customer has someone that is going to install some for the HVAC system. I spoke about the liability of doing a thorough cleaning on the evaporator coil. Customer would like to wait to see how it performs when cooling season comes back around.
