I arrived at our clients home for the outdoor unit not coming on or cooling properly. I proceeded outside first and found the outdoor heat pump in a LRA lockout to protect the compressor. I further tested and inspected the electrical components in the outdoor system and found a failed capacitor. The contactor had visible evidence or overarching and damage. The defrost control board also had evidence of extreme usage and damage. I showed this to our client and we discussed a bandaid/ immediate repair for today. I proceeded into the attic and found the indoor unit drain pan to be rusted and evidence of rust penetrating through the bottom. The unit is also without a water safety switch. I created another estimate for the other issues found on the unit. Robbery elected to replace the capacitor today and the unit had high start amps. We discussed protecting the compressor by also adding a Hardstart kit and our client also elected to join maintenance today. The unit is cooling with 17° te
