Job Checkin

Performed annual maintenance on a Peerless oil boiler. Upon arrival, multiple failed and deteriorated components were identified, including a failed expansion tank, failed Hy-Vents, a suspected failed mixing valve, and several heavily corroded fittings and valves. After removing the boiler jacket panels, significant soot accumulation was found on the insulation and between the boiler sections. A specific source of flue gas leakage could not be identified. The system was installed in 1989 and exhibits extensive signs of age and deterioration. Due to the poor condition of the existing valves and drains, hydronic repairs or component replacements cannot be performed reliably at this time. Based on the overall condition of the system, full boiler replacement is strongly recommended as soon as possible. While the boiler appears to be operating safely at present, the amount of required updates combined with soot accumulation inside the jacket make replacement the only practical long-term op
