Responded to a report of a leak at the boiler. Upon arrival, identified a slow, steady drip originating from the return piping flange connection at the boiler. The surrounding area is heavily corroded, and the flange bolts are significantly rusted. The leak is not active or spraying, but is a consistent drip. Options for an attempted repair were discussed, including the associated risks and the likely temporary nature of any repair due to the age of the system, overall condition, and lack of prior maintenance. All critical shutoffs were labeled and identified, including the oil shutoff, water shutoff, and electrical disconnect. After discussion, it was agreed that full system replacement is the most appropriate path forward. Estimates for a replacement oil boiler will be provided. The customers are aware of the current condition of the boiler and were advised to monitor the system closely and notify us immediately if the leak worsens.
