The icemaker shutoff valve was found to be failing and allowing water to pass through when closed. We replaced the valve to restore proper water control and reduce the risk of leaks or water damage. The home’s water was shut off, the system was drained, the defective valve was removed, and a new shutoff valve was installed. Water pressure was then restored and tested for proper operation. It was noted that the refrigerator itself is leaking not water connection and was shut off to prevent any further damage. During the process of restoring water service, the pressure reducing valve (PRV) was observed leaking at the gasket seal due to age and deterioration. Replacement was recommended and approved to stop the leak, maintain proper water pressure, and protect the plumbing system. The water was shut off again and the system drained, the existing PRV was removed, and it was observed that the existing gate valve was slowly passing water.
