After the drywall was removed, a washer box was installed to provide the required water supply and drainage connections. Due to framing limitations, the washer box was mounted on the exterior most wall where proper installation could be achieved. Due to limited attic access and the location of the existing plumbing vent terminating through the roof, an air admittance valve (AAV) was installed on the drainage line. The AAV was housed within a recessed wall box with a louvered trim plate to allow proper airflow into the drain, waste, and vent system. The drain line was connected to the existing 3” copper drain in the basement ceiling. A section of 3” copper pipe was replaced from the washer drain connection to the existing PVC at the building sewer outlet.
