We met with the homeowner today to assess the existing main water line and provide a solution for rerouting and updating the system. The goal is to run a new water line directly to the area where a new main shutoff valve will be installed. This new location is currently being used as a hose bib connection, where two water lines are seen entering the ground. We proposed opening the wall at the existing main valve and disconnecting the current incoming water line. This will effectively eliminate the original water entry point. The new water line will be routed from the meter to the home by trenching through the soil and penetrating the asphalt driveway to reach the desired location. This recommendation assumes that only one water line is coming through the current floor penetration, which is in accordance with standard plumbing codes. Once the trenching and installation are complete, a city inspection will be scheduled. After the inspector approves the work, the trench may be backfil
