This is an estimate to replace the 29 year old 50 gallon tall water heater with a new rheem 50 gallon tall water heater, and also replace the old gate valve with a new quarter turn ball valve. The water heater comes with a 6 year part and labor warranty. It was recommended to replace the main valve for the home as well but customer declined.
Came out today to provide a few different estimates on water heater options as customer is currently moving in but they do not like the idea of gas being inside the home so they have the current gas tanked heater capped off and the gas supply off to the home. I explained that removal of the gas 50 gallon heater and installing a standard electric or a hybrid 80 gallon water heater is a guaranteed way to ensure the 50 gallon bath tub could be supplied with hot water and would ensure everything in the home gets sufficient hot water and flow rate won’t be an issue. I explained with tankless heaters they have flow monitors inside the device and if to much water is being demanded at one time the heater will shut down and throw error codes. Tankless heaters are made to be point of use heaters and having a big bathtub with high flow could mean it won’t heat properly or will stop heating completely. I gave examples explaining even if the tankless can keep up the the flow of water for the tub fo
I came out today to look at the old water heater. I provided the homeowner with a couple of different options. The homeowner told me that were in the ballpark of the other 2 estimates . The homeowner also told me that he plans on moving forward with the water heater replacement in about a month.
When I arrived, the homeowner explained she needs a whole house repipe because she has polybutylene and cannot get insured. I walked through the homes, explained different options and situations. We told her we would have an estimate for her once we write everything up and draw the plan. Going to go over this estimate with mike and Dave.
