Service Summary We met with the homeowner today regarding water coming from beneath the floor under the bathroom vanity. ⸻ Inspection Findings • A camera inspection was performed through the drainage system. No visible breaks or damage to the cast iron piping were found. • A smoke test was also conducted. Smoke was observed escaping from the toilet and the bathroom area. • Based on this, we informed the homeowner that the toilet may require a new gasket seal. However, the seal issue is not the cause of the water leaking under the vanity. ⸻ Possible Causes Discussed • There may be an improperly connected Fernco or no-hub band between the cast iron and PVC from a prior bathroom remodel. • Alternatively, there could be a micro-crack in the cast iron that only allows water to escape when a backup occurs and the flood level rises above the transition point between cast iron and PVC. ⸻ Recommendations No immediate repairs recommended at this time.
