Customer contacted us regarding a possible issue with the existing water heater. Upon arrival, we discussed the customer’s concerns, specifically regarding a component they believed to be a check valve on the previous water heater. After a thorough inspection, we determined that the component in question was actually a water meter, not a check valve. We explained to the customer that this meter is not necessary for the proper function of the current system and does not need to be replaced or reinstalled. While on site, we also checked the overall condition of the existing water heater. Based on our evaluation and the unit's age being manufactured in 2013, we informed the customer about the average life expectancy of water heaters and recommended considering a replacement to avoid future issues or unexpected failure.
