Preformed heating maintenance on a single system heat pump 2021. I tested all electrical components and heat kit on the inside unit. All tested within manufacturer specifications. Temp being supplied to the home was 110 and rising. Return temp to the unit was at 78 degrees. I changed the filter for the client 20x25x4. I did notice that the ducts could benefit from having them cleaned. I proceeded outside where I tested all run and start amps for the compressor and fan motor, along with all the electrical components. All tested within manufacturer specifications. Except for the compressor start amps. They were starting at over 100 amps, rated manufacturer specifications are 83 amps on start up. I also noticed the unit did not have surge protection. I offered estimates for all concerns. Client elected to have hard start kit installed. After installing the hard start kit, I tested the unit’s compressor start amps again and they were now starting at 35 amps. Unit was cooling upon departure
