The capacitor on the upstairs unit was bad. Was not turning on the compressor. Manufacturer of the capacitor is Carrier. The customer still has warranty on the capacitor.. After completing diagnostics on your upstairs HVAC system, we found that the evaporator coil’s TXV (Thermal Expansion Valve) is not regulating refrigerant properly. The valve is fluctuating, which is causing inconsistent suction and head pressures. Because of this, the system is not operating at peak efficiency and performance. The good news is that your evaporator coil is still under manufacturer warranty with Carrier. Rather than replacing only the TXV, we are recommending a full evaporator coil replacement. The new coil will come with a factory-installed TXV, ensuring proper refrigerant metering and restoring system performance.
