I arrived our clients home for the unit not cooling properly. Upon arrival immediately proceeded outside and could audibly hear the outdoor unit not running properly and I could visually see the condenser fan motor, not spinning. This was causing the compressor to overheat and going to a lockout. I immediately proceeded to shut off the power and cool down the compressor and fan motor. I shared my findings with our client and acknowledge that the previous technician had mentioned that outdoor fan motor was near failure. I proceeded to cool down the outdoor equipment and was able to turn it on and verify that the motor was intermittently failing. The equipment is no longer under manufacture warranty, but I did have a motor for replacement on my truck today. Our client elected to replace the motor and once replaced, I proceeded to test the outdoor equipment. The refrigerant pressures were within range.
