Arrived on site found, homeowner found burnt wires around contactor and capacitor. Began inspection on r22 ‘06 unit, testing the capacitor and found it to be within manufacturer specifications. Upon taking off the contactor cover, I found the contactor was failed close and had a large amount of it melted plastic in it. Also found disconnect was starting to melt as well. Measured high start amps 100+ on compressor. Checked air handler and found sufficient return air. Discussed with homeowner possible options for getting this unit up and running today, but informed them that this would not be a sure fire fix and other issues could come up after we get it running. Homeowner asked for comfort advisor to see his options for system replacement. System not running at this time.
